Our work
Emergencies
Response, resilience and recovery for every disaster that disrupts community life.
Response, resilience and recovery to every disaster intended to disrupt community life. The Caritas Gweru team works in partnership with government, communities, local leaders and parishes, so that the intervention is community owned and the recovery holds.
Emergency work draws on the same relationships that carry the rest of our programmes, which is why response can begin through structures that are already trusted and already in place.
What this covers
- Rapid needs assessment with local structures
- Food, water and essential household support
- Early recovery and restoration of livelihoods
- Preparedness planning with community committees
How it is delivered
In partnership, on the ground
Caritas Gweru delivers this pillar with government departments, communities, local leaders, parishes and other stakeholders. Communities identify the need, local structures are trained to carry the work, and ownership stays where it belongs.
