Young people are not waiting for opportunity to arrive. They are building the things their communities need, and being paid to do it.
A skill with a market attached
Brick moulding is deliberate: it teaches a trade, and it produces something every growing community already needs. Youth groups supported by Caritas Gweru learn the work, organise themselves into enterprise groups and sell into local demand, which turns training into income rather than a certificate on a wall.
Leadership alongside livelihood
The youth empowerment pillar pairs skills development with leadership, inclusion and civic participation. Groups are supported to take part in the decisions their local leaders and parishes are making, so that young people are represented where community priorities are actually set.
Owned locally, sustained locally
As with every Caritas Gweru programme, the work is carried out in partnership with local youth, local leadership, parishes, communities and government. That partnership is what keeps a group going after the training ends.
